Alba Gutiérrez Martínez

Alba obtained her PhD in Acquisition of second languages in multilingual settings (LAMS) in 2018 with a thesis titled ‘Instrucción estratégico-metacognitiva y desarrollo de la competencia lectora en inglés en alumnado AICLE e ILE de Educación Primaria: un estudio longitudinal’ directed by Dr Ruiz de Zarobe. Alba also received her BA in English Studies from Deusto University in 2010. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Spanish Linguistics from Florida State University, where she worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant between 2010 and 2012, and a Master’s Degree in Education Training for Professional, Secondary and Language Teachers from UNED. Furthermore, she has worked as an Adjunct Professor in the English Department of the University of Cantabria and she actively participates in the Spanish Language and Culture Courses at Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo organized every summer in Santander. She also supervises students undergoing the Praticum at the Master’s Degree of Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language organized by UIMP and Instituto Cervantes.  Currently she is teaching at Universidad Europea del Atlántico and UNED.

Research Interests

Her research interests focus on second language acquisition under CLIL approaches.
