Asier Calzada is a PhD student supervised by Professor Dr. María Pilar García Mayo at the University of the Basque Country. He obtained his BA with honors in Translation and Interpreting from the University of the Basque Country (2015). He also holds two masters: MA in Language Acquisition in Multilingual Settings from the University of the Basque Country (2017) and an MA in Education Training for Professional, Secondary and Language Teachers from the International University of Valencia (VIU) (2017). During his studies, he spent an academic year as an exchange student at the University of Sheffield (UK) and a semester at Moscow State University (Russia). Asier has worked as an EFL teacher in private language schools in Spain and also as a lecturer in Russian at the University of the Basque Country. His current PhD thesis revolves around the learning opportunities of collaborative L2 writing with primary school children, and has received an FPU (Formación de Profesorado Universitario) grant from the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport (MECD).
