María Martínez Adrián is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of the Basque Country where she received her PhD. in English Philology in 2006 with a thesis entitled "The role of the L2 in the acquisition of L3 German word order". She has also been teaching at the Public University of Navarre for the last two years. She has been a visiting scholar at the Albert-Ludwigs Universität Freiburg (Germany) and at the University of Iowa (USA).

Her current teaching involves undergraduate courses in English Language and Linguistics in the B.A. in English Studies, as well as postgraduate courses in the Master's program in Language Acquisition in Multilingual Settings .

  • Cross-linguistic influence in L2 and L3 acquisition.
  • The acquisition of morpho-syntactic features
  • The acquisition of productive and receptive vocabulary
